For the first time, six hotel developments are under construction simultaneously in Barbados, according to Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Ryan Straughn.

Speaking during the presentation of the 2025 Financial Statement and Budgetary Proposal, the Minister noted that the scale of investment and employment generation across these projects marks a significant moment for the island’s tourism and construction sectors.

The projects span a wide range of locations and investment levels. The Pendry Hotel, representing a $300 million investment, is expected to generate 300 jobs during construction and between 250 to 300 jobs upon completion.

The Indigo Hotel, with an estimated $100 million investment, is projected to provide 200 jobs during construction and 100 permanent positions thereafter.

The Hyatt Ziva project, valued at $186 million, is expected to be one of the largest in terms of employment, with approximately 1,200 jobs during construction and 1,500 jobs once operational.

The Pierhead development, with a $100 million investment, is forecast to create 300 construction jobs and between 400 to 500 permanent roles.

At Holetown, the Royalton project represents a $300 million investment, with 700 jobs anticipated during construction and 500 jobs post-completion.

Meanwhile, the Beaches resort at Heywoods is the largest of the six projects, with an $800 million investment expected to generate 1,700 jobs during the construction phase and 1,800 jobs thereafter.
