Minister in the Ministry of Finance Ryan Straughn was the man of the hour yesterday.

It was an historic day for the MP for Christ Church East Central, who became the second professional economist after the late former Prime Minister Owen Arthur to deliver budgetary proposals in the House of Assembly.

He also became the only member of Cabinet other than Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley to execute that task since the Barbados Labour Party came to office in 2018.

Straughn, who was warmly welcomed by colleagues and well-wishers in Parliament Yard, delivered a three and a half hour presentation outlining measures to grow the economy and ensure the well-being of Barbadians. (SC)
