Opposition Leader Ralph Thorne has criticised the economic report presented in the 2025 Financial Statement and Budgetary Proposals, declaring that it attracts a failing grade.

While he expressed respect for Member of Parliament Ryan Straughn—who delivered his first Budget presentation—Thorne said the report was filled with diversion.

He accused the Government of abusing its power and failing Barbados through poor financial management.

Thorne argued that the high cost of living is further impoverishing the poor, marginalising vulnerable groups, and pushing the middle class closer to poverty.

He also described the current administration as a “high-flying” government disconnected from the everyday struggles of the people.
