Three people sustained serious injuries after a house at Bayview Avenue, Bayville, St Michael burst into flames early this morning.

Two men and one woman who occupied the house are now being treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Neighbour Ganelle Holder said they smelt gas around 4 a.m. and when they looked outside, saw one of the occupants checking the gas. She said soon after he went back inside, the house exploded and they heard the screams.

Her home had minimal damage, while that of Nellia Grant sustained heat damage. Neighbours ran outside when they heard the explosion.

Both the Barbados Fire Service and the National Petroleum Corporation were on site today. (SAT)
