Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister calls general election

Prime Minister the Hon Stuart R. Young has announced that the general election in Trinidad and Tobago will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025.

In a formal statement, Prime Minister Young revealed that he had advised Her Excellency Christine Kangaloo, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, to dissolve Parliament effective midnight on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, in accordance with Section 68 of the Constitution.

The Prime Minister also confirmed that, as per Section 33 of the Representation of the People Act, Chap. 2:01, Writs of Election will be issued on March 18, 2025.

Nomination Day has been set for Friday, April 4, 2025, leading up to the election on April 28. (PR)
