Traffic changes for UWI Carnival

On Saturday, March 22nd, 2025, the University of the West Indies will be having their annual carnival celebrations with a parade from the Elsie Payne Roundabout to the University Campus. This event will be held between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. As a result of this event, there will be some traffic changes on the day.

Road Closure

  • Lower President Kennedy Drive between the Elsie Payne Roundabout and Holborn Circle will be closed to vehicular traffic from 12 p.m. until the parade reaches the Mighty Grynner Highway
  • No traffic will travel along Mighty Grynner Highway between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Diversion

  • Traffic travelling from the upper section of President Kennedy Drive will be diverted towards Fontabelle.
  • Traffic travelling from Fontabelle will be diverted to the upper section of President Kennedy Drive.

Residents and visitors to Brighton and Pile Bay will access the areas by way of Brighton Hill. A police officer will be on duty at the Mighty Grynner and Brighton Junction to facilitate this movement. (PR)
