Two of the three people badly burnt in a house explosion at Bayview Avenue, St Michael, on March 15, have succumbed to their injuries.

The DAILY NATION was reliably informed that Denise Codrington, 48, passed away on Sunday afternoon, a day after her partner Nicholas White, 49. Both suffered extensive burns to the body during the early Saturday morning incident.

The third person injured was 45-year-old Andrew Maughn.

Codrington leaves to mourn an 18-year-old son, who also lost his father last year.

When a NATION team visited the area yesterday, the neighbourhood

was quiet and no one was at the two homes flanking the destroyed house. One woman across the street said she did not know the occupants.

Blackened wood and walls, collapsed galvanised sheets, singed leaves on the mango tree in the yard and the Pride of Barbados trees at the front tell the tale of what happened that morning.

An investigation was launched into the cause of the fire, but neighbours reported smelling gas. (SAT)
