Noel George sits on the edge of uncertainty as he faces eviction from his temporary housing arrangement in Dalkeith, St Michael, with nowhere to go after losing his home to a fire last October.

“Everything man – everything,” the 59-year-old said, describing what the fire destroyed.

George, who said he is a skilled labourer who occasionally finds work in construction, had been staying in an apartment in the Dalkeith area since the fire. The property belongs to a man he works for, but the arrangement has proven precarious.

“When everything was finished, he gave me permission to live in the structure that he had a down payment on. He didn’t fully own it,” he said. (DDS)
