Teen and minor charged in string of school burglaries

Police have arrested and formally charged 16-year-old Jalanie Junior Jaquez Skinner of Coles Cave, St. Lucy, along with a minor, in connection with a series of burglaries at schools across the island.

The charges relate to 12 separate incidents of burglary spanning from July 2024 to May 2025.

These include multiple break-ins at Selah Primary School on July 10, 2024; between November 15 and 16, 2024; March 18, 2025; and again on April 27, 2025.

St. Lucy Primary School was also burglarised between November 15 and 16, 2024, while the Coleridge & Parry Secondary School was targeted between March 27 and 28, 2025.

Additional charges relate to break-ins at All Saints Primary and All Saints Nursery Schools between March 5 and 6, 2025, the Daryl Jordan Secondary School between March 30 and April 1, 2025, and St. James Primary School on May 11, 2025.

The Roland Edwards Primary School and the Gordon Greenidge Primary School were also burglarised between May 11 and 12, 2025.

Both individuals are scheduled to appear at the Holetown Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
