UPDATE: Cyclist in Searles crash has died

The cyclist who was involved in an accident at Searles, Christ Church, this morning has succumbed to his injuries.

Nation News understands the man, who was thrown from the cycle during the collision, died at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he was taken by ambulance for medical treatment.

This is the sixth road fatality for the year.

The collision occurred at Searles Road and the junction with Searles Factory Road, involving a van, car and motorcycle.

Police investigations revealed that the van was travelling towards St Patricks with the car traveling directly behind. On reaching Searles Factory Yard Road, the van and the cycle collided, then the latter also collided with the car.

The two drivers complained of minor injuries and sought private medical aid.

Investigations are continuing and anyone who may have witnessed this accident is asked to contact the District B Police Station at 437 4311or 437-4591. (PR/SAT)
