West Indies captain Shai Hope is excited to be playing in front packed stands and cheering fans when they take on England in the upcoming One-Day International series, starting on Thursday.

DAILY NATION reported on Wednesday that 85 percent of tickets have already been snapped up and a full house is expected for the series opener at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

“I love it. I love seeing the fans supporting cricket. It does something for me. The more people the better. There is a lot of history between England and West Indies and the noise, and the cheering is something to look forward to,” Hope said.

He was speaking at Wednesday’s media briefing ahead of the team’s final training session.

Play on Thursday starts at 8am (Barbados Time) in the day/night contest under lights.

In an exclusive interview a spokesman from the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) indicated “over 81,000 advance tickets sold across all venues for matches v Windies. This 81,000 is about 85 percent of advanced tickets – so stadiums are set to be full!”
