Barbadians given more time to register for Solidarity Allowance

Barbadians now have until July 31 to register for the $300 Solidarity Allowance.

Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Ryan Straughn, announced this today during a post-Cabinet press conference at Ilaro Court.

Individuals who are required to register can do so at some post offices and at the National Insurance and Social Security Service (NISSS).

Straughn said that once the NISSS validates the identification of registrants, they would receive the $300 payment directly to their bank or credit union accounts, or via a cheque.

Registrations can be made using the Trident ID, old national ID, driver’s licence, or passport.

People without these forms of identification “will be required to present yourself to the Electoral and Boundaries Commission, who administers the issuance of identification cards, to be issued a new ID card,” Straughn said. (SC)
