A change in the payment of pension has created much unrest for some former Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) staff who are currently on that institution’s private pension plan.

The Weekend Nation understands that several former employees who have reached pensionable age were left “without a penny” for the month of May.

In a CBC letter dated April 23 to the pensioners from board trustee Sanka Price, members were informed that “ICBL has processed the pension payment for April 2025 to insure that pension payments for May are facilitated”.

The letter also stated: “Starting June 1, the National Insurance and Social Security Service which handles pension payments for Government will take over the responsibility for the payments and June 26 will be the payment date for that month.”
