Windy conditions affecting marine area

A small craft advisory is in effect for Barbados as strong winds continue to affect the marine area.

The Barbados Meteorological Services says the Atlantic high-pressure system is rebuilding across the island and the surrounding marine area, generating wind speeds of 20 to 25 knots (35 to 45mph).

Large open water swells can be hazardous to some vessels, particularly the operation of smaller craft. Marine users are encouraged to monitor these conditions.

A small-craft advisory is issued when sustained winds of 20 to 25 knots and/or sea swells of 2.5 to 3.0 metres are affecting or forecast to affect the marine area within the next 36 hours.

This advisory, which was issued at noon, Thursday June 19, 2025, will be updated at the same time tomorrow. (PR/SAT)
