Man killed, another injured in shooting incident

Update: The victim in Sunday’s fatal shooting at Whitehall, St Michael, has been identified as 24-year-old Gavin Nicholas Archer of Well Gap, Cave Hill, St Michael.

Archer’s identity was confirmed by a family member.

Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred around 2:48 p.m. today, along Whitehall Main Road at its junction with St. Stephen’s Hill, St. Michael.

According to reports from the District ‘A’ Police Station, four men on two motorcycles rode through the area and opened fire. One man was fatally shot near St. Stephen’s Hill, while another was injured further along Whitehall Main Road.

The deceased was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) by private vehicle, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The second victim was taken to the QEH by ambulance and is receiving medical attention.

Police are continuing investigations and are appealing to the public for assistance. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477, Police Emergency at 211, or the District ‘A’ Police Station at 430-7242 or 430-7246.
