West Indies will need 301 runs to win the first Test match against Australia in the Sir Frank Worrell Trophy at Kensington Oval.

The visitors were bowled out for 310 runs, with Josh Hazlewood falling as the last wicket late on in the session.

Shamar Joseph dealt the final blow to Australia’s batting line up, bowling Hazlewood via an underedge to claim his fourth five-wicket haul in Test cricket. His match figures now sit at 9-133, having taken 4-46 in the first innings and 5-87 in the second.

In a day dominated by Australia, the World Test Championship finalists scored 88 runs for the loss of four wickets.

Wicketkeeper Alex Carey starred for Australia in the afternoon session, striking a half century in 40 balls – which included seven fours and two sixes. He eventually became Roston Chase’s first wicket as Test captain, after he skied a catch to Justin Greaves who took a good low effort.

Patrick Cummins (9) and Mitchell Starc (16) were dismissed by Alzarri Joseph and his namesake Shamar as the match sped along to its final chapter.  (JC)
