The National Sports Council Under-15 and Under-17 basketball finals are now slated for Tuesday, after the semi-finals were contested last week at the Garfield Sobers Gymnasium.
After two exciting games, in which St Michael School defeated Combermere 59-53 and Queen’s College triumphed over Harrison College 66-34, they will now battle against each other in the Under-15 final at the Gym.
Tevez Bryan-Cadogan, with 20 points, top-scored for the St Michael School, and was assisted by Amarie Rouse with 12 points in guiding the Cougars to victory.
Meanwhile, Taj Cox-Mayers and Khierry Alleyne led the way for Combermere with 16 points each. In the other Under-15 semi-final, Queen’s College’s Kemani Maynard had a game-high 22 points, Michael Simmons followed with 15 points, and Zane Andrew Clarke scored 12 points. Harrison College’s Jamal James responded with 14 points.
The day after, the Under-17s took to the court, St Michael School defeated Alexandra 59-53, and Harrison College was victorious against Providence 94-40 to set up those winning schools for their final clash. SMS’ Ari Mottley-Squires had a team-high 21 points.
He was backed up by Jordan Blackman, Bryan-Cadogan, who scored 11 and ten points, respectively. On the other side, Ikorus Brathwaite poured in 21 points for Alexandra, and was assisted by Khristopher Roger (11) and Xavier Boyce (nine).
Harrison College was guided to victory by Jelani Marshall with 17 points while Jerome Arthur added 15 with Darren Massiah and Naeem Thomas each contributing 14 points. Niran De Silva and Tristan Perryman scored 12 and ten points, respectively, for Providence. (SW)
