Aspiring political candidate Alvin Toppin has passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Toppin, who was also known as DJ Soca Superman, previously worked at the Starcom Group as an announcer/DJ.

He later transitioned to the field of insurance.

As the Democratic Labour Party candidate for St Lucy and party spokesperson on culture, he was very vocal on both the issues affecting the constituency – particularly the water woes – and the national level.

He was also an avid fan of Chelsea Football club in England and a past student of Harrison College.

More to come.
