The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) has launched an investigation following an incident early Wednesday morning in which a female patient attacked staff members with a concealed sharp object.

The hospital confirmed that while the injuries sustained were not life-threatening, the event left several staff members visibly shaken. Immediate medical and psychological support was offered to those affected.

Chief Executive Officer Neil Clark stated, “We take this matter extremely seriously. The safety and well-being of our staff, patients, and visitors is always our top priority.”

The matter is currently under review by hospital management in collaboration with the Barbados Police Service, with QEH offering full support to ensure all aspects are examined.

QEH officials say the incident will be used to assess and improve current safety protocols. (PR)
