Moravian Church elects new bishop

The Moravian church has a new Bishop.

The Church today revealed that on Monday, the Moravian Church Eastern West Indies Province, at its 34th Provincial Synod currently being held at The Regent Star Hotel, Piarco, in Trinidad, after prayerful contemplation, elected the Reverend Ezra Parris as a Bishop of the Moravian Church (Unitas Fratrum).

Parris, a Barbadian is currently serving as Pastor of the Sharon and Dunscombe Moravian Congregations in the Barbados Conference. He was ordained on June 29, 1992, and recently celebrated his 33rd Anniversary of Ordination. He was married to the late Rev. Julie Joefield-Parris and has two adult children.

“The Moravian Church gives God the glory as he continues to lead us. We encourage the Moravian Family and the community to bear us up in prayer as Synod continues to meet,” the church said in a statement. (PR)
