Barbadian ace trainer Saffie Joseph Jr bagged three winners at Gulfstream Park here over the weekend to extend his lead at the top of the trainers’ championship.

Joseph, who has won 12 consecutive titles at Gulfstream Park, was victorious on Saturday courtesy Tesseliate and Little Lizzie, before recording a lone win with Corta Fuego on Sunday.

The results carried him to 43 wins, seven more than second placed Jose Francisco D’Angelo, with Carlos David third on 34 wins.

Tesseliate, a two-year-old bay filly, captured race six on Saturday’s card, a Maiden Special Weight event at 1000 metres, with jockey Wilfred Vasquez riding the favourite to victory by two lengths in 58.91 seconds.

Three-year-old chestnut filly Little Lizzie then brought more glory for Joseph, winning race eight, a Maiden Claiming event at 1670 metres by three quarters of a length in 1:42.46.

Corta Fuego, a three-year-old bay gelding, then capped off a successful weekend for Joseph by winning race eight on Sunday, a Starter Optional Claiming 1670 metres event, in a time of 1:41.26. (CMC)
