The Sanitation Service Authority (SSA) has issued a statement following industrial action taken earlier today by a group of workers dissatisfied with recent Performance Incentive Allowance payments.

Below is the full statement from the SSA:

The Sanitation Service Authority [SSA] wishes to inform the public of an ongoing industrial action initiated earlier today by a group of employees. This action, which has taken the form of a wildcat strike, is in response to the recent disbursement of the Performance Incentive Allowance.

The workers have expressed dissatisfaction with the amounts paid under the allowance scheme. The Performance Incentive Allowance was introduced as a motivational measure and is contingent upon the achievement of clearly defined operational targets – specifically, tipping targets agreed between management, staff and worker representatives. Unfortunately, these targets were not met, with performance reaching only 34% of the established benchmark.

Despite this shortfall, and as a gesture of good faith aimed at promoting continued improvement in productivity and morale, management approved discretionary payment.

The SSA remains committed to fair and transparent engagement with all staff and their representatives. All relevant parties have been contacted in accordance with established protocols to facilitate dialogue and resolution of the matter.

The Authority deeply regrets any inconvenience caused to the public and is actively working towards restoring full service as soon as possible.
