Inchcape plc, the world’s leading automotive distributor, is eyeing more investment and growth in Barbados.

Mike Bowers, chief executive officer of Inchcape Americas since April 1, but with the group for about ten years, also said the Barbados business would continue to be a key hub for the group’s further expansion in the Caribbean and the wider region.

“In Barbados, we’ve had a super first half of the year. We’re continuing to operate strongly and looking forward to a continued consistent performance through the rest of this year,” he said in an interview this week while visiting the island “to get to know the business better”.

“We definitely see opportunities for growth. The market has been growing in the last two or three years. We have around 46 per cent market share supported by brands like Suzuki, Mercedes Benz, Isuzu and then also a brand that we’re bringing to the market in Changan and Deepal.
