Suspect shot during police operation

A man is receiving medical treatment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital after being shot during a police operation in Simmons Land, Fairfield, St Michael, on Saturday morning.

According to police, the incident occurred around 6:00 a.m. this morning, when officers were confronted by an armed suspect during the operation.

The man was shot during the exchange and later transported by ambulance to hospital.

During the operation, officers recovered one firearm, a quantity of ammunition, several marijuana plants, and a loose quantity of vegetable matter suspected to be cannabis.

Four other individuals were taken into custody and are currently assisting police with investigations.
