Some vendors reported good sales on Day 2 of Bridgetown Market on the Mighty Grynner Highway yesterday.

Owner of Bold By Cyrilien, Jessica Cyrilien, making her debut at the event, reported a promising start to the day. She was offering hand-made accessories – crochet earrings, hats, rings and even custom ties for graduations.

“This is my first year at Bridgetown Market, so this morning we did have some sales and I’m glad for that. Later we are hoping to pick up into the evening and night,” she said.

Tanya Alleyne, of Plush Enterprises, was focusing on wellness.

“Plush Enterprises is a health-related business. We help people with hormonal imbalance, menopause, perimenopause, high cortisol and anything that helps when your body is going through any changes. We also have soaps for women experiencing hot flashes, and we even want to branch out and also do nursing services at some point,” she said.

Alleyne noted that foot traffic was slow earlier in the day, which she attributed to Sunday routines.

“Perhaps people have gone to church, they’ve had their lunch and they’re resting to then come out later – and also for Kadooment Day (today),” she added.

Lindsay Babb, known as “Mr Island Linkz”, who has been taking part in Bridgetown Market for five years, reflected positively on the improvements he has seen.

“We sell rum punches and mostly cocktails, all home-made. It was not bad yesterday (Saturday) as it was better than last year.

The one thing I must say is that local products have come a long way in terms of branding. So, the experience this year has been far better because a lot of changes have been made for the positive,” he said.

For the food enthusiasts, C and R Caribbean Cuisine served up flavourful fare with a Jamaican twist. A team member shared that the eatery typically operates out of Savvy On The Bay and Independence Square, but was enjoying better turnout yesterday.

“All of us are Jamaicans, so here at C and R Caribbean

Cuisine we sell oxtails, fish, chicken and pork. Today, we are just happy that sales are much better,” she said. (CS)
