Defending champion Mark “Venom” Griffith is among four heavyweights who secured contrasting wins on Sunday night to advance to the round of 32 in the Barbados Road Tennis Open.

Playing at the indoor Grantley Adams Memorial School Hallin Blackmans, St Joseph, Griffith was in venomous form, slaughtering Anthony “Prince” Haynes with two sows (21-3, 21-4) in a mere 11 minutes.

The “Prince” simply couldn’t contain “the King” of Barbados’ road tennis, whose royalty was brightly displayed for all his subjects to see.

The stylish trio of Antonio “Lil Man” Daniel, last year’s losing finalist Dario Hinds and Davien “Force Ripe” Taylor also made a victorious first outing in the island’s most prestigious road tennis tournament as the final set of matches in the round of 64 ended on sixth day of action.
