Search on to find missing fisherman

A fisherman is reported to be missing after a boat capsized on Sunday near the Bridgetown Port.

According to information reaching the DAILY NATION, one person was rescued but the other was still missing. The Fisheries Division issued a call to other sailors to help with the search, which will take place today. 

Those taking part are asked to contact the Dockmaster. (SAT)

The Barbados Defence Force (BDF) is currently searching for the missing fisherman.

Not many details are available at this time, but BDF Media Relations Officer Lieutenant Shimar Gollop confirmed they had been tasked to assist in the operation.

“We received a report about a missing fisherman and immediately launched our assets. The search began on August 25 and is ongoing. Once we have any further information, we will update the media in partnership with the Barbados Police Service,” she said.

Reports reaching the DAILY NATION said two fishermen were on a boat which capsized on Sunday near the Bridgetown Port. One man was rescued, but the other remained missing.
