Fatal shooting in Black Rock

Update: Police have identified the man who was fatally shot at Simmons Land, Fairfield, St Michael, on Wednesday night as 25-year-old Romario Payne of Haynesville, St James.

Lawmen at Black Rock Station said they received a report around 10:15 p.m. of a shooting in the area. According to investigations, Payne and several other men had just exited a car when a volley of gunshots rang out. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died on the spot.

Ambulance personnel confirmed there were no signs of life, and a doctor later pronounced death at the scene. Payne was subsequently identified by a relative.

Police said investigations are continuing and are appealing for public assistance. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477, Police Emergency at 211, or the Black Rock Police Station at 417-7500/7501.
