The Barbados Meteorological Services has issued a Severe-Thunderstorm Watch for the island.

A tropical wave is generating unstable weather, bringing moderate to heavy showers and scattered thunderstorms, particularly across western and northwestern districts during the afternoon.

Residents are advised that lightning strikes could cause power outages if utility infrastructure is affected, and lightning activity can pose a life-threatening risk.

A severe-thunderstorm watch is issued when significant lightning activity is possible within six hours.

This Severe Thunderstorm Watch was issued at 1 p.m. today and will be terminated at 6 p.m. or sooner if conditions warrant. (BMS)
