Fatal shooting victim identified

The Barbados Police Service has identified the man killed in a shooting in Cave Hill, St Michael, on Monday, as 30-year-old Stefan Akobi Branch, of Castries Road, Cave Hill.

Branch was shot after by police and Barbados Defence Force personnel during a mobile patrol. Officers say he fled when stopped, drew a firearm during pursuit, and engaged them, leading to the fatal shooting.

Paramedics found no signs of life upon arrival. A medical doctor later pronounced him dead at the scene. A firearm was recovered.
