At age 38 Kieron Pollard turned back the hands of time and defied all the odds to win the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in what was six weeks of fascinating entertainment during the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League 2025.

His immense contribution was on full display on Sunday night as he helped Trinbago Knight Riders defeat Guyana Amazon Warriors to win their fifth CPL title – he also won the CPL as captain of Barbados Tridents back in 2014.

With his big hands he held four outstanding catches and with his big bat he lashed three sixes in an over to change the direction of the match. Some sections of the partisan crowd at the Guyana National Stadium booed Pollard but with every catch and every shot he silenced the naysayers.

At the end of the presentations, he celebrated by lifting the trophy with captain Nicholas Pooran.
