The obdurate Adrian Scott let his racquet do the talking as he easily defeated the loquacious Kirt “Bruce Lee” Alleyne to capture the We Gathering Orange Hill single-game elimination tournament on Saturday night at Orange Hill, St James.

With the Member of Parliament, Dr Rommel Springer among the large crowd ringing the court, Scott, in his solid defending and attacking style, silenced Alleyne 21-12 to take home the $1 000 first prize.

Alleyne, who spent the night boasting that he was the boss of road tennis, faced the ignominy of getting a sow as he proved no match for his opponent in the final.

After a slow start Alleyne surged from 3-6 to 5-6. However, Scott then went into another gear, swelling a score of 8-6 into a possible sow at 18-6. (KB)
