Fire officials were this morning called to the scene of a blaze at a building on Roebuck Street, St Michael.

According to police, the alarm was raised around 2:25 a.m. on Saturday when Operations Control received a report of the fire. Fire service personnel responded and have been working to contain the blaze.

As a result, Roebuck Street has been closed to vehicular traffic from its junction with Magazine Lane, High and Marhill Streets, to the traffic lights at Crumpton Street. Police have advised that the closure will remain in place until further notice.

The Barbados Police Service has apologised for the disruption and appealed for the public’s cooperation while emergency crews continue operations at the scene.
