Flash-Flood Watch in effect for Barbados

A flash-flood watch has been issued for Barbados as Tropical Storm Jerry continues to move north of the island, bringing gusty winds, intermittent moderate to heavy showers, and thunderstorms.

The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) said these conditions are expected to persist into Friday and may result in flooding across some areas.

The system, which has been producing unstable weather throughout Thursday, could generate up to two inches of rainfall overnight. A gradual improvement in conditions is expected by Friday.

The BMS warned of possible soil erosion, water settling on roads and fields, and rising levels in existing water bodies such as ponds and drains. Motorists may experience delays or diversions in some areas due to excess surface water.

Members of the public are advised to monitor official updates from the BMS, the Department of Emergency Management (DEM), and the Government Information Service (GIS) on their websites and social media pages, and to follow any safety recommendations issued.

The flash-flood watch will remain in effect until 6 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2025, or sooner if conditions improve.
