Robert Sylvester Hewitt was found guilty on Tuesday by a Supreme Court No. 2A jury on two drug-related counts.

The nine-member jury retired at 4:50 p.m. and returned an hour and eight minutes later with a unanimous guilty verdict on two counts; that he did acts preparatory for the purpose of trafficking and had a trafficable quantity of the drugs on September 28, 2017. The drugs’ estimated street value was $185 200.
The convicted man, a 63-year-old general worker of Barkers Road, Haggatt Hall, St Michael, was represented by attorney Kellyann Blackman.
During the trial, there were legal arguments by the defence and the prosecution in the absence of the jury. At the end of it, Justice
Elwood Watts directed the prosecution to discontinue the possession charge against Hewitt.
Principal State Counsel Oliver Thomas, in association with State Counsel Dr Zoe King, prosecuted the case.
Police officers testified of finding five bags of marijuana at a house, which Hewitt dropped off there to be held for him. Officers subsequently executed a search warrant and found the contraband.
Hewitt was allowed to remain on bail and was ordered to return to court on March 6, 2026. (SD)
