There was no reason why Zarico Johnathon Ramsay should have found himself in “a matter of this magnitude”, a High Court judge said yesterday.

“The warning signs were there. You seem to have a problem with drug abuse. You need to enroll yourself in a place of learning. You need to keep away from the block. You need to choose your friends very carefully.
“All of these things are possible but you must play your part,” Justice Anthony Blackman advised Ramsay after he had fined him for having an illegal weapon two years ago.
Ramsay, 21, of Silver Hill, Christ Church, had pleaded guilty, at an earlier Session of the Continuous Sittings, to having a 9mm semi-automatic pistol, as well as 19 rounds of ammunition, in his possession on September 3, 2023.
