A woman who stood as surety for her son several years ago was relieved of that responsibility by a High Court judge yesterday morning, after the court said it was not satisfied that the surety met the necessary criteria.

The case before Justice Anthony Blackman in Supreme Court No. 3A involved accused Nicholas Andre Harewood, 46, of Glebe Land, St John, along with Kevin Anthony Evelyn, 43, of Gall Hill No. 3 in the same parish, and Cindy Jamiliah Horton, 36, of Belmont Road, St Michael.
They are jointly charged with entering Roxanne Staglon-Patterson’s home as trespassers between March 22 and 23, 2011, and stealing a $300 safe, two bracelets valued $12 600, USD$20 000, BDS$3 000, two rings worth $2 400, eight bottles of Absolut Vodka worth $520, eight bottles of whiskey worth $760, two bottles of liqueur valued $170, two bottles of tequila worth $130 and 17 bottles of brandy valued $1 700. The items were worth $61 179. 60 all together.
Principal State Counsel Joyann Catwell told the court it was accused Harewood’s first appearance in more than two years and two warrants of arrest had already been issued for him. (SD)
