Man found dead following shooting at Chapman Street

Police are investigating the shooting death of a man at Chapman Cross Street, St Michael, in the early hours of Sunday.

Operations Control received a report at approximately 1:36 a.m. on today of the body of a male lying in the area.

Initial investigations indicate that the man had been at a bar nearby where he was involved in a verbal altercation with another individual. He subsequently left the establishment, after which gunshots were heard.

Police responded to the scene and sought medical assistance. A medical doctor later visited and pronounced the man dead at the location.

Investigations are ongoing.

Authorities are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has information that could assist investigators to contact the Criminal Investigations Department (Central) at 430-7189 or 430-7190, Police Emergency at 211, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477, or the nearest police station.
