Openers star on final day of Barbados Pride trials

Openers Kemar Brathwaite and Shian Brathwaite stole the spotlight on the final day of the Barbados Pride trial matches.

The pair added an unbroken partnership of 127 as the Kraigg Brathwaite XI defeated the Jomel Warrican XI by ten wickets at the Windward Cricket Club in St Philip.

Kemar made 65 not out, which came off 82 balls and included 11 fours and a six, while Shian was unbeaten on 55 off 77 balls with eight boundaries and a six.

Earlier leg-spinner Javed Leacock grabbed five wickets for 54 and left-arm spinner Joshua Bishop picked up three wickets for 64 as the Warrican XI folded in their second innings.

The final 13-member squad will be submitted to Cricket West Indies on Monday, March 30.

Barbados Pride will travel to Kington on Thursday, April 9 for a series of three four-day first-class matches against Jamaica Scorpions as part of the revamped West Indies Championship. The first match bowls off on Sunday April 12. (PS)
