Justice Anthony Blackman has urged attorneys to “expedite the pending process” in relation to the seizure of assets from a woman convicted of having a high-powered rifle, ammunition and cocaine.

This came as the confiscation order brought by the State against Shellie-Ann Monique Atkins came up for hearing in the No. 3A Supreme Court last Friday.
“I hope this matter can be concluded. We have been at it for a while. I want to urge counsel on both sides to see how they can expedite the pending process,” the judge said.
Atkins, of Warrens Park South, St Michael, had pleaded guilty, in 2023, to possession of a 5.56 Nato calibre semi-automatic rifle; possession of 70 rounds of ammunition; possession of 9.55 kilogrammes of cocaine, and possession of a traffickable quantity of cocaine, all on June 17, 2020.
