Minister of Sports Charles Griffith made a call to Dr Kishore Shallow, President of Cricket West Indies (CWI) seeking clarity on why Barbados has been left off the schedule for West Indies matches this year.

The two spoke yesterday as cricket lovers on the island continue to fume over the vexing matter, while CWI has repeated its promise that Barbados is still a preferred venue and will return to the roster.

“I had a conversation with President Shallow in relation to this. He indicated that over the last five years Barbados would have been heavily in the rotation, as far as the home series are concerned. From his perspective it was a situation of going to one or two other islands who were not privy to the schedule over those five years,” Griffith said.

“I know next year we will be having India coming to the Caribbean and we will be factored into that as well. The England women team will also be touring here next year as well, and Kensington Oval will be factored into that series. England (men) will be coming to the Caribbean in 2028, and part of that series will be at Kensington Oval as well.”
