Update: Man escapes after firing gun at joint patrol in Pinelands incident

Police are investigating a shooting incident involving a joint patrol of the Barbados Police Service and members of the Defence Force under the Broken Trident Operation in Pinelands, St Michael.

The incident occurred around 10:40 a.m. on Thursday, along Field Road, when officers approached a group of men gathered near a business establishment.

According to preliminary reports, one man broke away from the group, ran across the road and drew a firearm, which he allegedly pointed in the direction of the patrol. One officer discharged his service weapon, after which the suspect fled the scene.

No injuries were reported.

Investigations are continuing.
