The Endeavour Credit Union (ECU) is seeking to extend its reach to small businesses through the launch of a partnership programme.

Launched yesterday at its offices in Manor Lodge Complex, Green Hill, St Michael, the initiative will focus on micro, small and medium enterprises.

Eleven businesses signed a Memorandum of Understanding, becoming card-carrying partners with the ECU.

President Anthony Walthrus said they wanted to contribute to the growth of several local businesses.

“We are fully aware of the economic situation in Barbados. We don’t want to see any of our businesses fade away. If you look around at the business environment in Barbados right now, we’re grateful for foreign investors, but even better, it would be good to see some of our home-grown businesses reaching that level and employing hundreds of people.

“As time goes by, this circle or this network becomes bigger and much stronger, so that in the next couple of years you move from level to level. And it will all go well for not only your business, the credit union, but also for, again, the Barbadian society,” he said. (JRN)
