The long-standing attorney was back in court yesterday but had his matter adjourned because a character witness was unavailable.
“One of the character witnesses, a crucial character witness, is unable to make it today (Thursday) so I am asking if the matter could be adjourned until next week,” his attorney, Daquane Nedd, asked the court.
Justice Pamela Beckles granted the request and adjourned the matter until July 9.
The judge then set July 16 as the date for her sentence.
Senior State Counsel Maya Kellman prosecuted the matter.
Nelson, 82, of Bagatelle Terrace, St James, had gone on trial for stealing £347 560.96, equivalent to BDS$855 000, belonging to Errol Hewitt of London, England, between November 13, 2018, and March 4, 2019.
However, after completing his unsworn statement in the No. 5 Supreme Court, Nelson asked to be rearraigned so he could change his plea.
The request was granted and Nelson then pleaded guilty to the offence.
He was remanded to Dodds Prison pending the completion of a presentencing report. (HLE)
