The kicks that Peter Luther Jordan administered to a man three years ago cost him a total of $4 000 when he reappeared in the No. 3A Supreme Court.

Jordan, of Reece Road, Brittons Hill, St Michael, was initially arraigned with causing serious bodily harm to Anthony Ricardo Maynard with intent to do him serious bodily harm on August 30, 2023. He denied that count and pleaded guilty to the lesser, alternate count of unlawfully and maliciously inflicting serious bodily harm on Maynard on the same date.
Principal State Counsel Joyann Catwell and Senior State Counsel Treann Knight prosecuted while attorney Latisha Springer represented Jordan.
Justice Anthony Blackman fined him $3 000 in six months or 944 days in prison, and ordered him to pay $1 000 compensation to the complainant in three weeks or spend 944 days in jail.
The court had heard that around 6 p.m., Maynard was at Warners Road, Brittons Hill, St Michael, when he saw Jordan walking towards him, hands behind his back, as though he was holding something.
Jordan removed his hands from behind his back and that was when Maynard saw he had been holding rocks.
Jordan began throwing those rocks at Maynard, who ran.
However, one of the rocks caught Maynard on the right side of his head, by the temple. Maynard, stunned, fell immediately.
While he was on the ground in a daze, Jordan went, stood over him and began kicking him about the body.
Maynard looked up and asked Jordan: “You gine kill me?”
The complainant said he felt “immense pain” in his ribs, head and groin area as the beating “last for almost ten minutes” before Jordan walked away.
After the beating, a neighbour helped Maynard into his car and took him to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. He was treated in the Accident & Emergency Department and later admitted to Ward B7. (HLE)
