In a legal saga involving the procedural intricacies of judicial employment disputes, the Supreme Court has partially struck out a lawsuit filed by retired High Court Judge Dr Sonia Richards against the former Chief Justice, Sir Patterson Cheltenham and the office of the Attorney General.
Following intensive hearings last month which focused on constitutional and private law claims, High Court Judge Shona Griffith ultimately struck out several constitutional grievances while granting Richards leave to amend and proceed with her private law actions.
The case is centred around alleged breaches of Richards’ constitutional rights, employment disputes and procedural issues.
The defendants, including the former Chief Justice and the Attorney General, had filed applications to strike out portions of the claim, arguing a lack of reasonable grounds and pointing to procedural irregularities.
