Shian Brathwaite, the swashbuckling top-order batsman, has been drafted into the Barbados Tridents squad for the rest of the 2026 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
He travelled from Barbados and arrived in Antigua last week where the team has been preparing for their next match against the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The six-footer, who is in training and could feature in the match, is a former Empire Club captain. He has had limited appearances in his professional career so far, playing only two first-class matches for Barbados Pride in the regional four-day competition, and eight List A matches for the West Indies Under-19 team back in 2017.
The Nation understands he was picked as a replacement for Kadeem Alleyne, the dynamic allrounder, who has been dropped from the squad.
The Tridents have played two matches so far. The opening match was on August 11 when they scored 206-3 to beat Jamaica Kingsmen by five runs at Sabina Park in Kingston. Their second match was on August 16 when they beat Saint Lucia Kings by nine runs at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in Gros Islet. (PS)
