Nassau, Bahamas – Three people will return to court on February 4 next year after they were accused of murdering a woman, whose body is yet to be recovered.
Police charged Rico Hepburn, 31; Dencil Delancey, 34; and Jakita Cash, 43, with the August 11 murder of 34-year-old Katrina Kelly. They were not required to enter pleas to the charges and were denied bail. They will return to court on February 4, 2027 to receive a voluntary bill of indictment that will send the case to the Supreme Court.
The prosecution is alleging that the three killed Kelly and caused damage to her vehicle. But when the matter came up in court, defence lawyer Benjamin McKinney argued that there was no evidence of a murder because police have not found a body.
But the lawyer was informed by the court that the appropriate place for the argument is in the Supreme Court, where the trial will be held.
Earlier this year, Emmajane Fitzgerald was unanimously convicted of murder in connection with the 2015 disappearance of her boyfriend Kenneth Russell in Freeport. (CMC)
