Honorary Consul General for Israel Benny Gilbert and his wife Leah hosted a reception marking the 65th anniversary of the state of Israel at their Atlantic Shores home last week. Guests included a few members of the local Jewish community hardly seen on the social circuit these days.
Potter Goldie Spieler was there with her son David. So was businessman Simon Altman.
It was the first time that the New-York-based Israeli ambassador Amiram Magid was celebrating Israel’s Independence Day in the Caribbean region and he said it was a delight it was for him to be in Barbados on the occasion.
The honorary Consul General, Benny Gilbert, was laid up in bed that night and unable to mingle with his guests on the lawn, but his wife proved to be the perfect hostess.
