Westmoreland visitors upset over no water

LOW WATER PRESSURE and persistent water outages over the last three weeks are tarnishing the image of one of Barbados’ most exclusive resorts and costing them big bucks too.
Yesterday, Royal Westmoreland Barbados Resorts’ chief executive officer Greg Schofield said that over a third of the residences, mostly those on the highest elevation of the resort, suffered from a trickle or no water between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. most days.
He said the situation had reached a stage where the resort had issued refunds to guests, in addition to delivering bottled water to residences so guests could brush their teeth.
Schofield expressed concern about the impression the outage gave, since some affected visitors paid in excess of US$2 500 per night.
And he charged that after making numerous calls to the Barbados Water Authority (BWA), he was no wiser.
